Adding Horses to the Equation
–
The Mirror that Reflects the “Me” in Each of Us
“There
is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the
inside of a man.”
Winston Churchill
After many years studying and
observing horses, the contribution of these magnificent
intelligent animals to our insight into life has become very
clear to me. Therefore, I have added my unique therapy with
horses to our study of Ontology to intensify your experiential
belief and sharpen the insight you achieve throughout our
journey together.
Horses are like people – they’re social animals with a
personality and varying moods and who, in order to survive, need
a herd and a hierarchy. But, unlike people, they have no
prejudices and they’re non-judgmental; they take us as they find
us. Horses are unusually sensitive to their environment and
possess an amazing ability to reveal our experiences
authentically and in reality – in other words their uncanny
ability shows us the true “me” inside each of us.
Dealing with an animal as large and powerful as a horse in
unknown territory gives us a chance to overcome our
shortcomings, gain confidence and understand how we handle
life’s challenges. The free interaction and relaxed calm of the
horse takes place mostly on the ground (and not on horseback),
is non-aggressive and not over-confident so that, through
building social contact and mutual trust with the animal, you
develop a deeper understanding of your own real self, helping
you make better decisions.
Later on, at a more advanced stage of your work with the horse,
we integrate non-aggressive and non-punishment “free riding”
into the program. During these sessions, we practice meditation,
breathing techniques and the correct use of body language in
order to adapt ourselves to the natural rhythms of the horse and
unit with him. This is an unusual and most interesting technique
during which you do not only combine with nature, but also, and
for the most part, with your own internal nature.
During our one-on-one sessions, we shall sharpen the insights
you achieve during therapy sessions with the horse and go on to
apply them to all areas of your life.
